They parted ways with offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner on Thursday after three years in that role and 10 years working closely with Ben Roethlisberger. Now, the decision to bring back or leave Roethlisberger might no longer be a decision they need to make.
Roethlisberger could do it on his own.
In fact, it could be part of the plan from the start. Who knows? It seems a bit rushed, especially less than 24 hours after Mike Tomlin said he didn’t even have the “meat” to hold back the coaching staff.
It’s unclear whether Roethlisberger even wants to continue playing at 39, although after the embarrassing late-season loss to the Browns he looked like he wanted to return for the 18th year.
