Robin Wright is using his extra time at home amid the pandemic to brush up on his cinematic knowledge.

“I think my guilty pleasure of going out for days is going to bed and watching a movie on Criterion Channel,” Wright, 54, said during The Cut’s “How I Get It Done” virtual panel at the Film Festival. Sundance Friday. “There are so many movies that I haven’t seen, I realize… seeing old movies that you can’t find anywhere else.”

Wright, who premiered “Land” at the festival, noted that Alfred Hitchcock’s 1956 film “The Man Who Knew Too Much” really impressed her.

“What a great movie, and you also see how everybody steals a little bit from this person a little bit from this person,” she laughs. “… It’s so trippy to watch those 40’s movies and say ‘Oh my God, now I see where this director got this idea from.’

Actress and director Zoe Lister-Jones, who debuts ‘How It Ends’ at the festival and also participated in the chat, said she has caught up on iconic shows and movies that she does had never been able to see.

“I also watch a lot of content because it’s the right thing to do,” she joked, adding that she had watched “The Sopranos” in its entirety.

“I started to enjoy writing creative non-fiction about my childhood,” she added of her downtime in the pandemic. “It’s like doing a journal, but telling the story of yourself, which I found an interesting practice and exercise to dissect things in a new way about how I got here.”
