Google Maps celebrates April Fool's Day with a limited-edition version of the classic arcade game Snake. The Easter egg will be available from today until the end of the week. With this app, you'll be able to play Snake on your desktop and with the Google Maps smartphone app in several of the world's iconic cities, including London, Cairo, Tokyo, and San Francisco.

To play, direct your browser to Google's Snake site or look for Snake Play in Google Maps Settings on your smartphone (see the GIF below to find out if you're having trouble).

The gameplay is treated a lot like the old arcade game. You control the train on the screen using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Your goal is to take passengers for your train, which you do by rolling them without bumping or bumping. Each supported passenger extends your train, which makes it a little harder to maneuver on the screen.

In the Google version, each city also has a handful of landmarks that you can get for extra points. In San Francisco, for example, you can earn bonus points for driving your train on the Golden Gate Bridge, the Ferry Building and the Palace of Fine Arts.

It's a small waste of fun time and it's free.
