Did you know that the Samsung Gallery Android app comes with a (not too) secret Galaxy Labs menu? Most importantly, activating this array of awesome and entertaining features on your end shouldn’t take more than a literal minute. Largely due to the fact that Galaxy Labs support has been built into each of Samsung’s firmware upgrades since the debut of Android 10, One UI 2.1 days.
Needless to say, it’s doubtful how low-key these experimental additions were meant to be initially. Because at first glance, the Galaxy Labs platform is built into almost all regular, non-beta versions of Samsung Gallery. Ie, from Android 10, from One UI 2.5.
While it’s possible that someone at Samsung merged the wrong code repo branch, this inclusion is probably very intentional. And assuming you have a Galaxy device released within the last three years or so, you should be able to test it on your own.
How do I activate the latest experimental features of Samsung Gallery?
To do this, launch the Stock Gallery app on your smartphone or tablet, bring up its bottom toolbar by tapping on the hamburger menu and navigate to Settings. Scroll to the bottom and tap on the penultimate section that says About the gallery.
This is where you do the bulk of the hacking by repeatedly tapping the version number under the gallery header. This one here:
A system-wide prompt will usefully count the seconds until the act is accomplished. Go back to the previous screen and you should see a new menu item, Gallery laboratories, at the bottom of the application settings.
