How to get a refund from the Google Play Store

[ad_1]

Getting a refund or returning an item in real life is a pretty simple process. Just go back to the store, hand in the item with your receipt, and you're usually ready to go (assuming your return falls within a certain time). date). With digital shopping, this can be a little tricky, but do not worry, because if you've bought an app, movie, ebook, or music on Google Play, here's how you can get a refund.

Request a refund for apps

The only way to know the usefulness of an application is to download it and use it for yourself. Screen captures, videos, and comments do not always tell the whole story because of the different approaches or ways to use an application. This means that sometimes, once you've bought and downloaded an app, you realize that's not what you're looking for.

Fortunately, if you're an Android user, you'll get a refund for the app or in-app purchase you just purchased and here's how.

We must emphasize that you have essentially three windows of opportunity in which you can request a refund. The first window is within 2 hours of your purchase, the second within 48 hours and the third after 48 hours, with each window becoming more complicated to get a refund.

In the first 2 hours

Google has implemented a policy that allows users to request a relatively simple refund of purchased apps within two hours.

  1. launching Google game
  2. Tap the three-line icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
  3. To select Account
  4. Go to Order history
  5. Press the Refund button

In the first 48 hours

  1. Launch your browser go to your Google Play Store account
  2. Click on Order history
  3. Find the order for which you want a refund.
  4. Tap the three point icon and click More
  5. To select to report a problem and choose one of the options listed that best describes your situation
  6. Fill out the form and note that you want a refund

Once the form is completed and submitted, you should be able to receive an email confirming your refund within 15 minutes, or up to two business days.

After 48 hours

After 48 hours, you will need to contact the developer of the application to request a refund. Whether or not they grant you a refund is entirely at their discretion, so you can get it or not. The best thing to do is at least try to make a decision within the first 48 hours of purchase, so your chances are better.

To contact the developer of the application.

  1. Go to the Google Play website on your browser.
  2. Look for the application for which you are trying to get a refund.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see the developer's contact information, such as the website and the email address.
  4. From there, you will need to contact them directly and request a refund.

As we said, in this case, it is up to the developer to decide whether he will reimburse you for your purchase. Do not expect this method to be 100% guaranteed.

Request a refund for eBooks

In accordance with Google's e-book refund policy, you may request a refund at any time and for any reason, provided that the request is received within 7 days of your purchase (30 days for purchases made via Google Play for Education). However, Google notes that refund requests can be made at any time if the eBook does not "work as expected".

To request the refund of an eBook, you must contact Google Play Technical Support.

Request a refund for movies and music

When it comes to requesting a refund for movies and music purchased on Google Play, it becomes a bit more complicated as some caveats need to be addressed. With movies, you still have not read it, which means that you can not watch it and then ask for a refund (even if it does not match your expectations, because that largely falls under the hands from Google).

For music, if you have not listened to it, you should be able to request a refund. If you have one, you can still claim a refund and you have 7 days to do so (14 days for those residing in the EU).

  1. Go to the Google Play website
  2. Click on Account to the left of the screen
  3. Go to Order history
  4. Find the movie or song for which you want to request a refund.
  5. Tap on the three point icon and select to report a problem
  6. Choose the most relevant option from the list
  7. Note that you want a refund and explain why

Once submitted, you should receive an email informing you of the status of your refund.
