Activision and Treyarch have announced that the upcoming season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone has been delayed.

The news comes as fans have been eagerly awaiting information on what to expect with Season 1, including numerous leaks over the past week highlighting some of the content to come.

The company has announced, however, that the new season of content is delayed.

Black Ops Cold War & Warzone Season 1 will now start the December 16.

An unprecedented amount of free Warzone Content

Battle Royale is about to go beyond Verdansk: get ready to fall into a New Warzone map and fashion during launch. Warzonemore and more arsenal over 30 Cold War Black Ops basic weapons, as well as variants of Blueprint! Also make sure you are prepared to face other prisoners from Warzone in one new Gulag experience.

An undeniable offer of Cold War Black Ops Content

Prepare for an incredible amount of free content Cold War Black Ops, including new multiplayer cards, news and fan favorites 6v6 Modes & Playlists, the return of 2v2 gun battle with four new cards and a new Fireteam card. This offer includes a battle through a sprawling luxury resort in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. That’s right: the legendary Black ops call of duty II 6v6 map known as Raid will be ready to play Cold War Black Ops at the start of season 1.

Make room on your gunsmith table to free guns and prepare for new Zombies modes, Challenges of the season, and the full launch of cross-titles from Seasonal Prestige System, with up to 1000 season levels to progress!

That’s an unprecedented amount of free content and teams are currently gearing up for the biggest Season 1 launch week ever. For that to happen, we’re taking a few more days to finalize everything before releasing this huge drop of new free content for the community.

Deploying content: preparing for the launch of season 1

Cold War Black Ops Update: December 8

The first of these is an update of Cold War Black Ops, which will be available for download on Tuesday, December 8. This update brings many quality of life improvements to Cold War Black Ops, and prepares players for the new integration of Season 1 game content, which will be available on December 16.

Between December 7 and December 16, expect the lines of communication to be open as we preview many elements of Season 1, showcasing the massive expansion of inbound content.

Update on Black Ops Cold War (December 15), Warzone Update (December 16)

A pair of content updates will bring Season 1 in-game content to players from Cold War Black Ops and Warzone. For more information on the content of these updates, see Treyarch’s Game Intel Blogs for patch notes.

Once the second content update is available in Warzone, Season 1 will launch simultaneously on Cold War Black Ops and Warzone.

This is one of the first times that Activision has delayed a mass release after launch.

The company announced the now delayed release date for Season 1 in early November and gave fans detailed information on the Warzone integration.

Season 1 is expected to feature new 6v6 maps and modes, the return of 2v2 Gunfight mode, new Zombies modes, a new “ Classified Warzone Experience ”, and more.

The season will also bring the first Battle Pass for Black Ops Cold War. The Battle Pass will feature a free and premium tier that will host a variety of cosmetic content for players to earn.

The start of Season 1 will also see the full integration of Warzone into Black Ops Cold War. At present, Warzone remains tied to Modern Warfare. With Season 1, progression systems will be synchronized and mapped between Black Ops Cold War, Warzone, and Modern Warfare. Integration will also see loadouts for Black Ops Cold War become available in Warzone.
