"How to get rid of a murder", recap: season 6, episode 1, premiere

[ad_1]

We are only an episode in How to escape murderLast season, and I'm already very worried for Annals Keating.

I guess that's nothing new, since Annalize self-destructs regularly. But in the first hour of MurderSixth season, ABC dramas two funeral for Annalize: an imaginary, and an (apparently) very real.

Let's recap the events of "Say Goodbye":

GREAT DANGER | We begin with a grave where Connor, Oliver, Michaela, Asher, Bonnie, Frank and Nate stand over a coffin. "We are free now," Bonnie said dreamily on the occasion of a eulogy. Then, a slightly older version of Laurel's son, Christopher, approaches the coffin before anyone can stop him, opening it to reveal Annalize's body. Christopher brandishes a weapon (!) On his face and says: "Stay dead, bitch!" – and as Coffin Annalize opens his eyes, we learn that all this is a vision in the mind of Real Annalize.

Annalize, it was soon learned, is in a rehabilitation clinic called Vista View since the night Laurel disappeared, and viewing the funeral was part of a group therapy exercise. Flashbacks tell us that Annalize went to a bar after Laurel's disappearance, where she received a call from Tegan announcing the death of Emmett Crawford. (Yes, he's really dead: we see the body bag on a stretcher and all the rest.) From there, Annalize quickly made a spiral, drinking glass after glass of vodka before taking cocaine, MDMA and fentanyl with a stranger in the bathroom. She finally collapsed on the dance floor and was taken to the hospital, where she begged Bonnie to help her drink help.

But today, a few days later, Annalize has no real interest in doing the job. (She even calls herself "Karen" at Vista View, as if she could be more emotionally protected.) Her merry roommate, Sally, tries in vain to become her friend Annalize, and the drug addicts in her therapy group l & # 39; 39, call to take it for a BS way through the rehabilitation. Annalize can not even participate in a group exercise: members are supposed to write the awful words they say to themselves – those of Annalize include "trash", "monster" and "failure" (oh, my) – and then hit the cards ruthlessly with a plastic baseball bat, defeating all their shame, guilt and self-denial. All the other members of the group are really interested in it, but Annalise simply can not.

It's only later that Annalize drops her walls, after Sally confessed in tears that she hated being a mother and wished she could run away forever. "I'm calling Annalize Keating," finally reveals our daughter. "People think that I murdered my husband, but I did not do it. I helped cover all that. (Sally has the merit of not announcing after hearing this news, but she repeats the mantra of Vista View: "Annals, I see you and I love her.")

In her individual session with her therapist, Annalize insists that she is a selfish person. she always chooses herself, even if she tries to protect others in the process. Her therapist suggests that this is not selfishness. In fact, Annalize is not selfish sufficientand she will not be able to heal until she has imposed herself and loves herself. With this advice in mind, with her budding friendship with Sally, Annalize returns to her bedroom and finally participates in baseball bat therapy.

She does not have any note cards with terrible words written on her, nor a bat. But Annalize takes a pillow from her bed and begins to hit him, becoming more and more angry as she hits him. "You are not a failure. You are not a trash. You're not cold. You're not a bitch, "she begins. "You're not ugly! You're not disgusting, you're not a bitch! You're not dirty! You're not spoiled! You're not a monster! You deserve to be loved and touched and felt! You deserve to be free! I want to go out! I want to go out! Forgive yourself, Annalize, for I forgive you! forgiven!"

HTGAWM Premiere SummaryIn the end, Annalize is doubled and sobbing – like all of us! – But she feels good enough afterward to return to Philadelphia, knowing that her people need her. And yet, she is not interested in solving Laurel's disappearance or worrying about the FBI investigation. Instead, she gathers Michaela, Asher, Connor and Oliver home and encourages them to follow the same treatment she had just done at Vista View, beating one of her Ottomans with a poker in the fire while they would bury "all lies and fear". , the guilt and shame "of recent years.

Asher leaves first ("You're a good guy, Asher!"), Followed by Connor ("There's good in me!") And Oliver ("I'm a strong, confident and powerful man!"). Michaela does not care at first, but she gets there with some encouragement from Annalize. "I choose myself – so good-bye, Laurel," Michaela spits. "You died for me!"

Annalize their request if they feel better, and Asher answers that he would feel better lot Better, if Annalize spoke to Michaela of a secret she kept. The two women are also confused, so Asher says, "Annalize knew your biological father," he told Michaela. And just like that, Michaela and Annalise's relationship goes pouffe. "If that's true, I'm going to kill you," Michaela told her teacher, handling poker so intensely that I began to wonder if Annalize would die on the spot.

Instead, we get a flash-forward. It's a bit vague at first: a wall is splashed with blood and an object that seems to be the same poker fireplace is shaking on the floor. Then we attend another funeral and a crowd of people crowd around another casket. As the minister prays, a slow pan reveals a framed picture of Annalize surrounded by flowers. "We ask you, O Lord, to raise Annalize, our dear departed, and give her peace," the minister concluded. "Amen." (As I said: I am so worried about Annalize.)

Elsewhere in the first …

* After Emmett's death, Tegan becomes managing partner of Caplan & Gold and Nate does not buy what Tegan sells. Not only does he find Emmett's death suspicious, but it is odd that Emmett's body was transferred to London for an autopsy – an arrangement that Tegan approved, although she claims to have been pressured by his superiors C & G.

Nate later told Annalize that Emmett's death had been described as a heart attack and that there would have been no criminal act. But he's still not convinced that Tegan is innocent and an Internet search of "Tegan Price Mexico City" brings up a 2009 photo of Tegan and Jorge Castillo at a major conference.

And Nate might be on something: at the end of the hour, Tegan sits behind her new office, where Emmett used to sit as a managing partner. She takes her glasses in a corner of the office, then mocks "Goodbye, goodbye" before throwing them in the trash.

HTGAWM Premiere Summary* Laurel's whereabouts remain a mystery in this first, and Connor, Asher et al. have different theories about where she could be. Connor is convinced that Laurel has been released on bail, but Frank refuses to believe him. if she selected to leave, she would have at least taken Christopher's stuffed giraffe, which he needs to fall asleep. "She would not be so cruel," Frank insists Bonnie.

Bonnie and Frank later report Laurel's disappearance to the police, although they want to keep the authorities out. (They are all In the end, the FBI is investigating.) While the police search the house, Frank notices something coming out of the framed photo of Laurel and Christopher. He sweeps the photo and removes the media, revealing a small envelope containing a silver key.

* After a reassuring heart with Asher, Michaela decides to continue her feelings for Gabriel, who has already let him know that he loved her and wanted her. She visits Gabriel in her apartment and tells her how she feels, even if she specifies that "if you ghost me, if you lie to me, or if you break with me without a real and adult explanation," she will be cut off. his manhood and "introduce him to a trash can." yuck.

Gabriel assures Michaela that he is in the long run, so they finally sleep together – though I'm not sure how Gabriel could do it. perhaps to be in the mood after this very graphic threat. But he must also worry about something: after his relationship with Michaela, Gabriel receives a call from his mother and continues the lie that he is still studying at the University of Virginia. But Vivian knows it's not true … because she's parked right outside her apartment, looking up in her room.

It seems that Vivian is in the long run. We then see her unpack in a new apartment and she puts away a box marked "Dr. Sam Keating – Case 2882. "Then she receives a text concerning a number withheld:" Annalize is back. "
