The new Chrysalax Wonder Weapon in Black Ops Cold War’s Forsaken map isn’t to be overlooked and we’ve got the full guide on how it works and how you can get your hands on it.
The final map based on Cold War’s turn is now upon us as players jump into Forsaken. As always, secrets are hidden around every corner, and the zombie community is slowly unraveling the mysteries it holds.
While the full questline is a huge undertaking, anyone can get their hands on the new magical weapon quite easily. In fact, there are even several ways to claim the Chrysalax for yourself.
We’ve broken down each method in the new Forsaken map so you can wield the powerful Chrysalax Wonder weapon in no time.
Get the Chrysalax Wonder weapon for free
This first method is the most efficient way to guarantee you get your hands on the Chrysalax Wonder weapon. While there are a number of ways you can do this, following these steps will earn you the Multifaceted Weapon every time.
Kill a tormentor with fire
Keep an eye out for the shiny red Tormetors.
First of all, your job is to kill a Tormentor with fire. These are the bright red explosive zombies that appear at random. There is no way to guarantee their occurrence, so keep an eye out. As soon as one of them appears, be sure to equip some sort of flaming weapon to remove it. We recommend the flamethrower for a quick and easy killing.
After taking out a Tormentor with a blast of fire, the first component to build the Chrysalax will appear on the ground.
Have an Abomination destroy a Black Aether Crystal
You must come to an agreement with the Abomination for this step.
Then your job is to find an Abomination and well… keep it alive. While he’s one of the toughest enemies on the map, you don’t really want to attack him just yet. Find the three-headed beast and lure it near a Black Aether crystal.
The Abomination must use their lightning attack near the crystal. In doing so, he shatters the crystal and reveals the next part to form the Chrysalax.
Defend the Donut Shop
For the third and final component, head to the POI of the Donut Shop a few laps after your run. At some point you will hear that an “anomaly” has crashed into the store. Once that appears, simply stand on the glowing orange substance and various bosses will appear.
Eliminate each target without descending from the anomaly. After eliminating the final boss, a new part will appear.
Look for this shiny anomaly in the donut shop.
Charge the particle accelerator
With all three parts now ready to go, venture underground to the Particle Accelerator. Here, just place the three objects and the zombies will start to appear nearby.
Your final challenge is to take out these zombies in melee only. This will charge the components and before long will form the Chrysalax Wonder weapon.
When clearing the zombie room via melee only, the Chrysalax will appear.
Win the Chrysalax through arcade games
While arcade games can be seen as nothing more than a distraction, one in particular can actually give you the new Chrysalax Wonder Weapon.
First, you will need to collect enough arcade tokens randomly dropped by various zombies. Once you have a full pocket, head to the arcade section and activate the “Der Eisendrache” pinball machine.
The Der Eisendrache pinball machine can come in clutch.
This will teleport you to an oddly familiar environment if you are a seasoned Outbreak player. Just kill enough zombies from the area and a golden chest will appear in the middle of the map. Open it up and there’s a good chance a Chrysalax is waiting for you.
Similar to the mystery box, however, this is not a guaranteed drop. Chances are you will get something powerful, but it won’t always be the Chrysalax. If you’re not lucky, rinse and repeat the same process.
Legendary trial rewards
Perhaps the most effective method of retrieving the Chrysalax Wonder weapon is the test computer. This machine is located in the Observation Tower and can be accessed after repairing the main teleporter and eliminating the first Abomination.
The test computer can get a Chrysalax magic weapon if you are lucky.
Once you reach the computer, you can redeem 500 points to receive a random challenge. Clearing some of the easier levels will unlock Legendary Trials.
Upon completion of this high level objective, you will be awarded a Chrysalax for your troubles.
Find Chrysalax in the Mystery Box
The Mystery Box always works as a last resort.
Finally, there is always the Mystery Box. It is an extremely rare drop, but the Chrysalax can be pulled straight from the Lucky Crate.
As a result, it is not a foolproof method. So if your race is absolutely dependent on the Chrysalax, the Mystery Box should only be a last resort. It will cost you 950 points each time and as usual there is no guarantee that you will land on the correct weapon.
It can take a dozen attempts, so be sure to use the consistent methods above before you fall back on the Mystery Box.
How the Chrysalax magic weapon works
The Chrysalax Wonder weapon is one of the most unique of all CoD zombies.
Similar to CRBR-S Magic Weapon at Mauer Der Toten, the Chrysalax has multiple unique functions. The first is Storm Mode which works like a more standard rifle, but switching to Savager Mode gives you a devastating melee weapon.
In Savage mode, you have plenty of attacks at your fingertips. From quick hits to the energy blades you throw into the sky, this is one of the most versatile weapons in the game. Below is a quick breakdown of each attack.
- R2 / RT: Double ax swing
- L2 / LT: Throw Energy Blade (requires Energy Charges)
- Hold L2 / LT: keep the rotating energy blade in place
- On the D-pad: Transform into gun mode
