The sixth installment of Treyarch’s beloved Horde is one of the coolest releases to date. There is no better way to kill time and zombies with your friends. Here’s everything you need to know to play Cold War’s Zombies in split screen mode.

For years, players bonded and take on the unstoppable forces of darkness in Call of Duty Zombies, and Cold War has plenty of opportunities to do so.

Whether you’re looking to brave the journey back into the harsh German winter to rediscover the 11-year-old secrets of Nacht der Untoten in his new form Die Maschine, or want to head to the front lines and clean up a big old scientific mess in Firebase Z, you and your friends have a great time.

While the game mode itself has changed a lot over the years, the setup process has remained surprisingly consistent.

How to play couch co-op in Cold War Zombies

Cold War zombies offers a fun alternative to the more competitive multiplayer mode or the gripping single player campaign.

Once you have started the game, you will need to follow these steps:

1. At the first menu of the game, press X on PS4 / A on Xbox
2. Scroll down to the zombies menu and press the same button again
3. Connect a second controller to your system and select a profile. You can use a guest profile, but any player not using a normal Xbox or Playstation profile will lose their progress after logging out of their current session
4. Select the mode you want to play
5. Start the game or start the matchmaking process by selecting the button at the bottom left of the screen.

Once you’ve completed all of these steps, you should be ready to go and begin your reign of terror against the creatures of the night.

You have the option to enter a private session so that only people currently logged into your console can play together, or you can upload it online and let others join your game as long as you have an Xbox Live subscription or Playstation Plus active.

Forsaken is the latest CoD Zombie Map based on the Cold War.

While it’s a lot of fun slaying zombies without thinking together, if you’re looking for something more organized than that, you can still tackle the Easter Eggs hidden on each map. Some of these might require a full team of four, but the end products are worth it if you have the patience.
