How to reset your old AirPods when you buy a new set

AirPods are expensive devices, you do not have to put them in the trash. Fortunately, you can do something by selling them or giving them as a gift. You just have to be careful – and you have to prepare the AirPods first.

That does not seem to be twenty minutes since you lost $ 160 on the original AirPods, and yet you look now. If you have not spent $ 200 more for the new AirPods 2, you think about it. And you should, because the AirPods 2 are superb. Yet, few of us can think of AirPods as disposables. Therefore, to help you pay for the new ones – or to ease any guilt related to your consumption habits – you can use your old AirPods.

You will not get $ 200 for them and nothing at all, but there are ways to make money and ways to do good with them. Plus, whatever you choose, you have to do some things to let those old AirPods work for someone else.

Trade or recycling

Stop us if you've heard this one. Apple offers an exchange program allowing you to get money for your old device. If it does not really bring you anything, they will take it anyway and insert it into their extensive recycling system.

Except that they do not do anything with the AirPod, the product of the company that is deteriorating the fastest.

Buying AirPods this way is not easy, and trying to sell yours in this market will not be much easier.

We have not yet seen any listings on such a site that indicates how the battery life has deteriorated in the AirPods. So you can expect a lot of sales to be followed by complaints and refunds.

Speaking of battery life

There are many very good reasons to buy AirPods 2, and a better one is that the tiny batteries of your old device are almost exhausted. If you received the AirPods as early as possible in December 2016, it is likely that they now last less than half the time that they have used and perhaps even less.

It's sad, but the battery life of your new AirPods 2 will decrease in the same way. So give it a year or two and you may find it convenient to use the old ones when reloading the new pair. If the AirPods lose half of their battery and you have two, you will keep the same listening time.

You just have to agree to see these unused AirPods 1 in your case or on your desk for a few years. If the guilt of having unused expensive items becomes too heavy, you can offer them as a gift.

Prepare the old AirPods

It's hard not to recommend getting money for your old AirPods, especially when they are very expensive and have cost so recently. However, the goal is to get the most value, and considering the future usefulness of your old spare parts, it is advantageous to keep them.
