Twitter announced the launch of a new prototype application by, appropriately, a tweet. This new app calls "twttr", which is a return to the original name. It was originally presented at CES in January.
Twitter uses Twttr as an experimental test space where they can focus on new designs for threaded conversations on the social media platform. The current iteration of this prototype app displays tweets and responses more like chat bubbles, reminiscent of email applications such as iMessage or WhatsApp. The responses in the discussions also appear to have a color code to differentiate between the people you follow and the others.
The prototype app will also be used to test other possible changes that Twitter wishes to make to their overall product. Examples include status update fields and icebreakers used as pinned tweets to encourage users to converse with each other.

- If you are accepted, you will receive an invitation by email in the coming days.
- When you receive the invitation by email, click the included link to confirm your participation.
- Once you have confirmed your participation, you are waiting for another e-mail invitation from your device beta program.
Do not forget that even though everyone can apply for this beta application, not everyone will be able to access it. They will only accept a few thousand English and Japanese speaking users as long as they abide by the rules.
For those who are accepted, you will then want to download the Twttr application on your phone or the computer of your choice, and then use it instead of the native Twitter application. Twitter welcomes all comments on the new look with the hashtag #LetsHaveAConvo, or you can use their online form.
Twitter still has problems with online harassment on the platform, but maybe Twttr can help stop some of the problems with redefined threads of conversation.
