How to troubleshoot Windows 10 connectivity issues introduced by the latest update

Microsoft has released the cumulative update KB4515384 of Windows 10 1903 on September 10th. The cumulative monthly update resulted in a number of issues, including a Search and Start menu problem, audio issues, and, apparently, connectivity issues.

The Windows manufacturer has updated the list of known issues, recognizing that some devices with certain Intel and Broadcom WiFi adapters "will no longer be able to use Wi-Fi." Microsoft and NEC have found incompatibility issues with Intel Centrino 6205/6235 and Broadcom 802.11ac Wi-Fi cards under Windows 10, version 1903, on specific models of NEC devices. If these devices are updated to Windows 10, version 1903, they will no longer be able to use any Wi-Fi connections. The Wi-Fi driver may have a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. The taskbar icon for networking can display the icon without the Internet and Network and Internet settings may not show any Wi-Fi network.

"To preserve your update experience, we applied a compatibility lock on the affected devices that are not offered Windows 10, version 1903," the company added.

Microsoft has recommended users do not try to install manually Windows 10 1903 using the Update Now button or the Media Creation Tool until the company has fixed the bug. The company also indicated that it was working with NEC on a resolution.

How to troubleshoot Windows 10 1903 connectivity issues after installing the latest cumulative update

If you are having connectivity problems with Windows 10 version 1903, you can try disabling and then reactivating the WiFi adapter. Here's how to do this:

Go to Settings > Device director (look for the Device Manager and this will be the best result).
Develop Network Adapters.
Right-click the Intel wireless adapter that is causing the problem and select the Disable device option.

Right-click the same Intel wireless adapter again, and then select the Enable device option.
Restart your machine.
