Dead cells recently become much bigger. This week Fatal falls The expansion adds a crop of weapons and enemies to the game, as well as two new biomes. The problem is that access to these two areas – the fractured shrines and the immortal shores – escapes a simple explanation. Classic Dead cells, right? Here’s how to find them.

Fractured shrines

This one is easy to reach. After you beat the first boss – I tend to go the route that takes me up against the janitor, on Black Bridge – you should see an elevator in the next anteroom. Take it to the top. Easy enough.

You’re not gonna … Hey, this joke is overkill.

When you reach the end of the Fractured Shrines biome, you will encounter a door leading to Undying Shores. Unless you’ve explored every pixel of the Fractured Shrines, it will be locked, with no explicit indication of how to unlock it.

Note the two statues on either side of the door – in particular, how they wear hooded dresses. Looking for a corpse wearing this outfit. It will be hidden against a sarcophagus in a dusty corner of the procedurally generated layout of the scene.

Once you find the corpse, you will need to use the Rune Homunculus (right joystick, at least on Switch) to detach your “head” from your body and own this corpse. From there, make your way through the rest of the level as usual. (Don’t worry, you’ll keep your gear.) The statues guarding the gate should shoot an opposing Gandalf and let you through. You’ll also unlock the Cultist Outfit Blueprint, which, as an added bonus, only costs one cell to unlock.

(There’s a potential issue: since you only get the Homunculus Rune after successfully completing your first round, it’s unclear whether players who haven’t will be able to access Undying Shores. Kotaku contacted developer Motion Twin for clarification.)

You only have to do this once; the door of Undying Shores will remain open for your future descents. There is apparently a boss at the end of the scene, an alternative to the Time Keeper, which shows up in the Clock Room scene. I’m pretty rusty Dead cells so at the moment i have no idea what this new enemy is or how the hell you defeated him. Good luck!
