Here we present you an easy to follow guide on how to set up and use your Chromecast with an Apple device running iOS.

Chromecast already set up on another mobile device

If so, and you’ve already set up your Chromecast on a mobile device, you won’t need to set it up again, as long as the devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

This will become more likely in the future, as the computer setup is no longer available for Chromecast.

What you need to set up Chromecast on an Apple device

As long as your Chromecast device is third generation or older, you will need your device, the latest version of the Google Home app, a Google account, a cable and an HDMI input, and ‘a power outlet and an Internet connection.

It is also essential that your iOS device is fully up to date with the latest operating system in order to be able to run the Google Home app.

Set up Chromecast on iPhone

First, you need to plug in Chromecast and download the Google Home app to your Apple device.

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on or connect your Wi-Fi to your Chromecast device which will appear as ChromecastXXXX.b. or similar in your list of available connections.

Open the Google Home app and the instructions should appear automatically.

If not, head to the top left corner of the app home screen, click Add, Configure Device, then New Device, and the steps will appear.

This should complete your setup, but if you’re having any issues you should try restarting your Chromecast, unplugging your router and plugging it back in, or even factory reset your Chromecast if the first two approaches are unsuccessful.
