The Iowa Hawkeyes are on the board, but we’re still waiting for the Minnesota Golden Gophers to respond. Three quarters and the Iowa offense was really able to impose its will, dominating Minnesota 14 to nothing three quarters. The Hawkeyes were led by RB Tyler Goodson, who so far has rushed for a TD and 139 yards on 18 carries.
Iowa has been a nightmare for the Minnesota offensive line with three sacks already. We’ll see how many Iowa sacks can scare the rest of the game.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are 5-0 against the Minnesota Golden Gophers since November 2015, and they will have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hawkeyes and Minnesota face off in a Big Ten battle at 7 p.m. ET at TCF Bank Stadium. After both teams make their previous opponents’ jobs easier, one of them is ready to undergo a disheartening change of fortune.
Iowa just couldn’t be stopped last week as they easily beat the Michigan State Spartans at home 49-7. The contest was almost over by the end of the third, at which point Iowa had established a 42-7 advantage. RB Tyler Goodson of Iowa has been one of the team’s most active players, rushing for two touchdowns and 113 yards on 14 carries. Goodson’s longest run was 71 yards in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, when you finish with 269 yards more than your opponent like Minnesota last week, a favorable result will almost certainly follow. They blew past the Illinois Fighting Illini 41-14. The game was almost over by the end of the third, at which point Minnesota had established a 35-7 advantage. RB Mohamed Ibrahim had a game of dynamite for the Golden Gophers; he rushed for four touchdowns and 224 yards on 30 carries.
The victories brought the two teams to an identical double. Two stats to watch: The Hawkeyes enter the game with just 102 rushing yards allowed per game on average, well for the 14th best in the country. But Minnesota comes into the game with the 14th most rushing yards per game per game in the country at 238.7. We will see which of these forces – attack or defense – wins.
