Xavien Howard appears to be heading towards his second Pro Bowl selection in three years, but he has much higher goals – both on a personal and team level.
Howard made it clear when he appeared on The Jim Rome Show after learning his 18 career interceptions in 51 games represented a better pace than all-time defensive backs like Charles Woodson, Deion Sanders, Darrelle Revis and Bailey Field.
“It’s great news to hear names like Champ Bailey, guys that I’ve watched a lot, Deion Sanders,” Howard said in Rome. “These guys are Hall of Famers. That’s the goal, I think, for any NFL player to ever be a Hall of Fame member. But that being said, it’s just about me. put your head up, go to work and keep doing a good job.
Howard has already tied his career with seven interceptions with five games to go, although that’s part of the overall picture for the Dolphins involved in a playoff race.
And, for Howard, that’s the ultimate goal.
“Dude, with all of that in front of us, it’s what we think about and what we preach on the inside,” Howard said. “And everyone knows that, everyone just keeps doing their job and playing well, that’s what we want to be, a playoff team, a Super Bowl team. It’s more than a playoff. We want to change the culture here in Miami. ”
TAYLOR IS TUA
With the Cincinnati Bengals having the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, rest assured that head coach Zac Taylor performed a thorough assessment of Tua Tagovailoa before the team chose Joe Burrow as the first overall pick. .

ROSTER NUMBER
With Matt Breida placed on the Reserve / COVID-19 roster on Friday and defensive tackle Benito Jones promoted from the practice squad earlier in the week, the Dolphins now have 50 players on the active roster.
That’s three under the league’s maximum.
