HP launches a dual-display gaming laptop and other equipment

HP and its game brand Omen have unveiled a new upscale PC gaming hardware just in time for Computex and E3 2019, and it includes a nice new laptop with dual display. Overall, HP's announcement covers the entire gamut and includes new gaming laptops, mice, mouse pads, monitors and even clothing. For us though, the laptop is the real star of the show.

Nicknamed the Omen X 2S, this 15-inch laptop has a standard panel of 144Hz to 1080p and a secondary display of 6 inches to 1080p with touch capability directly below. According to HP, it can be used for a variety of functions, including watching YouTube, running applications or a web browser, viewing essential system information, watching a Twitch stream, and even turning into a virtual keypad. It also has the ability to reflect any part of the screen, so you can place your mini-map if you wish. It's a nice, innovative concept, but we certainly doubt it because you would have to leave the screen of the eyes to view its contents. It's still interesting, and we can not wait to check it ourselves, hopefully soon.

Nifty display Dual Dual side screen, the new Omen X2S has some notable attributes. It is only 20mm thick, an RGB keyboard, up to a Nvidia RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU, and the company also uses Thermal Grizzly liquid metal instead of thermal paste to cool the processor. According to HP, it is ten times more efficient than thermal paste, which improves performance by 28%, for higher images per second in games like Apex Legends. Theoretically, this may be possible if the CPU avoids choking and overclocks one or more of its hearts, but we will have to put it in our hands before we can say that this statement is true.

The HP Omen X 2S will be available in June starting from $ 2,099 for an Intel Core i7-9750H and Nvidia RTX 2070 Max-Q model equipped with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256GB SSD. There will also be a high-end model containing the same processor, but a Nvidia RTX 2080 Max-Q and a 1 TB solid state drive for $ 2,699. Users will also be able to set up this 15-inch dual-screen laptop with an Octa-Core processor and a 240Hz 1080p display. However, HP has not yet announced the cost of this SKU.

If the secondary display is not your cup of tea, HP will also distribute Omen laptops that do not have it, in 15 "and 17" formats. Although it seems to use the same chassis as the 2S, HP claims that it is actually different, although the two are quite similar.

The Omen 15 and 17 models have a more traditional design with a trackpad and palm rest under the keyboard, but inside, the three machines are virtually identical. Maximum scalable options with Nvidia RTX 2080 Max-Q with Intel Core i9 up to octa-core, 32GB of memory and 1080p 240Hz display.

The Omen 17 will be available at a starting price of $ 1,099 in June. The 240Hz model will follow soon after, in October. You will also find that the Omen 15 laptop also arrives on the shelves of online stores and stores in June for $ 1,049.

Screens and mouse

HP also offers a 240Hz gaming monitor called Omen X 25, which will be offered in the FreeSync and G-Sync versions, the former being also compatible with G-Sync. This 24.5-inch monitor sports a fast TN panel designed for Esports and multi-monitor configurations with its very thin side braces. The adjustable monitor also offers customizable ambient lighting, a brightness of 400 nits and a response time of 1 ms without surprises. The Omen X 25f, compatible with both FreeSync and G-Sync, is expected to reach $ 449 by the end of June, while the G-Sync version of the Omen X 25 will be released in early September at 549. $.

Finally, HP publishes new gaming mice and mouse mats. The all new Omen Photon wireless gaming mouse is reminiscent of the Reactor, without the adjustable wrist rest. While this may seem less customizable, this new mouse is designed to be fully wireless with HP's new 2.4 GHz wireless technology that promises a click response time of 0.2 ms. You can load it on any surface equipped with Qi. And it turns out that HP also took this opportunity to announce a new Qi-loading mouse pad called Outpost.

Arriving in July, the Omen Photon wireless gaming mouse and the Omen Outpost Mousepad will sell for $ 129 and $ 99 respectively.
