WIMBLEDON, England – Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strycova were ready a few hours before the start of the women's doubles final at Wimbledon, scheduled for Saturday's third game on center court.

After Simona Halep only needed 56 minutes to beat Serena Williams in the first match on Center Court, it seemed like they could hear earlier than expected.

The men's doubles final then went on for four hours and 57 minutes. In the fifth inning, tournament supervisors told Hsieh and Strycova that their match was postponed.

"I felt good yesterday in my practice," lamented Hsieh.

"Me too," Strycova agreed.

They were postponed to Sunday night after the men's singles final, a place normally reserved for the mixed doubles final. The mixed doubles were relegated to the first court.

Normally, players choose their formal outfits for the evening after winning a title. Strycova and Hsieh made sure to get theirs in the morning.

Strycova said she made her choice by consulting "a little assistant": Halep, champion of the ladies' singles, who was also present to choose her dress Sunday morning.

For Hsieh, the process was easy. "You know girls love pink dresses," she says.

Strycova will accessorise her look with a new crown: the first in the WTA doubles standings, which she won with the win, closing a tournament that redefines her career and which also allowed her to reach her first semifinal in singles . She called it "two weeks of incredible moments that I will never forget".

Strycova said the standings in the doubles standings have been a "very big goal" since the start of the season.

"Especially here, right now, this tournament, my favorite place – yes, it's a fairy tale," Strycova said.

As it should be, this fairy tale now ends at the ball. At midnight, instead of a pumpkin, she will become the best official player of the women's doubles.
