HTC's Vive Focus was one of last year's most enigmatic VR products, a premium standalone headset launched for the first time in China before making its international debut at the end of 2018 – but only for businesses. Today, HTC is taking a step forward with the announcement of Vive Focus Plus, an upgraded model with more sophisticated tracking systems and controllers, although the device seems to be again aimed at business users.
The main change made to Focus Plus is the support of two controllers with six degrees of freedom (6DoF), allowing to follow two hands at a time while the user moves in a real 3D space. HTC will offer Focus Plus with two ultrasonic controllers, which include an analog trigger for pressure-sensitive inputs that the company says will be used by developers to further immerse users with compression / capture gestures.
In addition, Focus Plus includes ergonomic enhancements for greater comfort, allowing you to rest more easily on the wearer's head. The unit also promises full enterprise support with professional features, including multi-device management tools, kiosk mode, eye control, and support for 19 languages.

What will not change is the original Focus' Snapdragon 835 processor, which remains quite advanced by the standards of standalone VR headsets, but now has two complete generations behind Qualcomm's flagship mobile processor. The same Snapdragon 835 processor will be included in Facebook's similar headset, Oculus Quest, which will soon be available in stores under $ 400.
HTC will start selling Vive Focus Plus in the second quarter of this year at an unspecified price, probably similar to Vive Focus's $ 599. The company will also include a free enterprise license "in most markets".
