HTC Vive has announced that the Vive Focus, its standalone VR headset for businesses, would benefit from an upgrade to the recently unveiled Vive Focus Plus.
The Vive Focus Plus targets the same customers as businesses, but also includes upgrades, such as new controllers with 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF), more comfortable design, and many hardware enhancements.
In a press release, HTC Vive notes that the changes introduced with the Plus are intended to make the standalone device easier and more comfortable to use, while the 6DoF features make it easier for developers to transfer their PC VR projects to the Plus.
"At Vive, the Vive Focus Plus announcement reinforces our commitment to quickly iterate and refine the virtual reality marketplace for businesses and consumers," said Daniel O'Brien, General Manager of HTC Vive. "This Vive Focus Plus deployment paves the way for deeper immersion, more realistic training and simulation, and easier transfer of PC category experiences to the stand-alone category."
Although the original Vive Focus was launched in China before being marketed worldwide, Vive Focus Plus is expected to hit 25 countries in the second quarter of 2019.
