Huawei could use Sailfish OS as an alternative to Android

Even if Huawei would work on its own mobile operating system, the company could look elsewhere for its Android alternative. That something else is allegedly a Russian-made OS Sailfish fork, reported The bell Monday.

Huawei CEO Guo Ping reportedly discussed the possibility of using Sail OS OS on Huawei aircraft with Konstantin Noskov, Russian Minister of Development, Communications and Media. Based on this alleged conversation, Huawei is already testing devices with the Aurora operating system preinstalled.

Ping also reportedly mentioned the possibility of partially transferring production to Russia. Joint production would consist of chips and devices.

Huawei and Russian-based digital services provider Rostelcom declined to comment on the talks, although the latter said it was willing to work with developers of mobile solutions. Grigory Berezkin, a Russian and Russian businessman who owns the developer behind Aurora OS, is supposed to link the two companies.
