Apple is constantly struggling to meet the demand of AirPods and the Samsung Galaxy Buds have been very well received this year by customers and critics alike. Huawei, meanwhile, has not yet experienced the same success in the segment called "hearable devices", but his latest product could change everything.
More elegant design, dedicated audio chip, noise cancellation
Huawei also claims that its latest creation boasts a windproof design that will help enhance the audio experience. Speaking of which, the company hopes to take it to the next level with a dedicated audio chip called Kirin A1, which supports Bluetooth 5.1, consumes 50% less power and is about 5% smaller than the competing H1 chip Apple, thus offering Huawei more freedom to design its products.
All this comes with a "Dolphin" cavity that creates a more precise and focused sound experience, as well as active noise cancellation, which the user can turn off at any time. The latter is quite impressive considering the size of the Huawei FreeBuds 3 – it is usually reserved for much larger headsets. You'll also find an intelligent noise control system that adjusts the sound for each ear canal and a bone sensor that detects vibrations and helps you block the sound when needed. All this, in turn, should provide a crystalline sound, even at a speed of 20 km / h.
Among the technical details, the FreeBuds 3 includes a 14mm high-sensitivity dynamic driver with a dedicated bass tube. The Kirin A1 also reduces the latency by around 30% and helps provide extremely low audio latency. As a reference, the Huawei FreeBuds 3 support a minimum latency of 190 ms, while the second-generation AirPods offer 220 ms and the Samsung Galaxy Buds set 564 ms.
Redesigned charging case, longer battery life, faster charging
The original FreeBuds came with a pill-shaped charging case while the FreeBuds 2 Pro opted for a square alternative. With the third-generation model, Huawei returned to the drawing board and created a significantly rounder case that now supports SuperCharge technology. That means it can be charged 100% faster than Apple's latest AirPods via cable and 50% faster wireless.
As for the FreeBuds 3 themselves, they have 4 hours of use on a single charge or 20 hours with the charge. As a comparison, Apple AirPods can last up to five hours with a charge and 24 hours with the charging case. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Buds will run for six hours with a single charge and up to 13 hours with the charging case.
Huawei FreeBuds 3 release date, price and availability
The Huawei FreeBuds 3 will be available for sale in pure white and pure black when it goes on sale later this year. Unfortunately, the Chinese company has not yet confirmed the exact release date or the price of its potentially popular product, but additional information will likely be released later this month when the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro their debut at an event in Munich in September 19
