Google suspended its business operations with Huawei effectively immediately, which would have a significant impact on Huawei devices around the world.
according to ReutersQuoting a source close to the case, Google was forced to suspend its business with Huawei, which "requires the transfer of hardware and software products."
"Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is going immediately lose access to Android operating system updates, and the next version of its smartphones outside China will also be lose access to popular apps and services, including Google Play Store and the Gmail app, " Reuters it's noted.
This means that there are no more Android security updates for devices, old or new, including the recent P30 and P30 Pro, Mate 20 Pro and many more.
Google's actions come after Wednesday's announcement by the US Department of Commerce, which placed Huawei and some 68 subsidiaries on a "black list of entities", a blacklist of trade, following a decree signed by US President Trump.
This is the same list that ZTE was added to and removed from during 2018, causing massive disruption. It is now forbidden for Huawei to buy parts and components from US companies without the approval of the US government – including Android.
This is, of course, a huge hit if the story is accurate. One of Huawei's arms, his HiSilicon chips division, said he was "long-time ready" for any ban, while Huawei has already indicated that it has been preparing for six years or more for any ban on Android. Honor, a sub-brand of Huawei, was to launch Honor 20 on Tuesday, May 21st in London – we do not know what will happen now.
The Chinese giant said in a statement earlier this week that it was "against the decision made by the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security".
Android Authority contacted Huawei and Google for a comment.
This is a story in development.
