Checking for leaks and rumors about Huawei Mate 30 phones is no use unless you want to know what you are going to miss. According to Reuters, Huawei Mate 30 phones would still use an open source version of Android, but not a version giving access to the Google Play Store, where users can search and install any application of their choice.

Without access to the Google Play Store, those who purchase a Mate 30 smartphone will not have access to the apps that they used previously.

Gmail? Nope.

Google Maps? Faded away.

Youtube? Negative.

Facebook? Messenger? Instagram and WhatsApp? Preferably not.

Snapchat, Netflix, TikTok, Spotify, Pandora, Hulu and Amazon? Unlikely.

Huawei's fans in China are used to this. Android phones in China have not had access to the Google Play Store for years and Chinese application developers have created their own extremely popular applications, such as the Weibo social media platform, the TaoBao e-commerce application and "Netflix of China", IQIYI.

It is unclear whether Huawei's phones will still be sold outside of China, as in Europe, Canada, Australia and countries where Huawei has already sold its smartphones successfully. We will have to wait until Thursday to find out. But it's really hard to know who outside of China would want a Huawei phone if he does not run the applications he wants.
