(Reuters) – Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and two affiliates will be brought before the US District Court in Brooklyn, New York, on March 14, on charges that the company has committed bank and electronic fraud and violated the sanctions against the company. Iran, according to a file filed Friday.
In an indictment released in January, the Justice Ministry said Huawei had misled a global bank and US authorities over its relationship with Skycom Tech and Huawei Device USA Inc, to commercial activities in Iran.
On Thursday, Huawei Device and Huawei Device USA pleaded not guilty in a federal court in Seattle in another case. The companies are accused of fraud, conspiracy of trade secrets and other charges alleging conspiring to steal trade secrets from T-Mobile US Inc between 2012 and 2014. A trial date has been set for March 2020.
The charges added to the pressure exerted by the US government on Huawei, the world's largest manufacturer of telecommunications equipment. Washington is trying to prevent US companies from buying Huawei routers and switches and is asking its allies to do the same.
