Yesterday there was reports Huawei plans to use the Russian operating system Aurora to replace Android on its new devices. Still, other reports indicate that Huawei will build its own mobile operating system, HongMeng OS. Following this announcement, reports revealed that Huawei would call its new Ark OS system.
At this point, there is no official announcement on what Huawei will call its new operating system or on the possible use of the Russian system. Despite these uncertainties, there is one thing that seems to be a guarantee: Huawei's patented operating system will be faster than Android's.
GSMArena Huawei said it intends to launch its own operating system as early as October 2019. The report says that the operating system will be limited to medium-sized and low-cost smartphones in China. This limited availability is probably due to the fact that Huawei wants to test its system and the market reaction before proposing the operating system on its flagship models. Until now, testers have confirmed that the new operating system is 60% faster at least compared to Android. Once the system becomes stable and adapted to the global market, it can be installed in the flagship devices that Huawei will align in the future.
The report also states that Huawei is working with the Chinese investment company Tencent, alongside other Chinese-owned technology companies such as Vivo and OPPO. The smartphone maker would urge developers to publish their applications on the app store of its own operating system. But as shared Richard Yu, CEO of the mobile business, the operating system will "Compatible with all Android applications". This means that developers are not expected to make changes to their applications.
