Huge Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Spec Leak Reveals All Details

With less than a week before Samsung officially announces the Galaxy Z Fold 3, a new leak has detailed everything we need to know about the upcoming foldable, including its internal specs and cameras.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 features a 7.6-inch foldable AMOLED display

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, according to information shared by WinFuture. It supports a variable refresh rate of 120Hz and offers a resolution of 2208 x 1768p. It’s coated with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus, which is said to be twice as scratch resistant as Gorilla Glass 6. It won’t get damaged when bent.

Speaking of folding, Samsung should promise that the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s hinge has been tested rigorously. This means that you will be able to fold it 200,000 times without any problem, which equates to 100 folds per day for 5 years.

Oh, and before I forget, the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s foldable display has a selfie camera under the display instead of the usual notch or punch hole implementation. More details on this below.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 wouldn’t be a Fold without this all-important cover screen. Samsung reportedly chose a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display covered in Gorilla Glass Victus with HD + (2268 x 832p) resolution and the same 120Hz refresh rate.

What about the dimensions of the Fold 3? Well, according to information shared today, it will weigh 271g and measure 158.2 x 128.1 x 6.4mm when opened. When closed, the Fold 3 should land at 158.2 x 67.1 x 14.4mm.

No Exynos here! The Snapdragon 888 is fitted as standard

Samsung’s next foldable smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. No microSD card holder is included.

The South Korean brand also offers a 4,400mAh battery with wireless charging compatibility and support for fast wired charging via the included USB-C port at the bottom.

This configuration is paired as standard with support for 5G and 4G LTE networks, in addition to Bluetooth 5.0 alongside NFC and Wi-Fi 6. Other details include an IPX8 water resistance rating, making it made Samsung’s most durable foldable to date, and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers.

For the first time, S Pen support is also integrated. Rumor has it that Samsung is considering a dedicated stylus dubbed the S Pen Fold Edition for the next device, although it’s not clear how it differs from previous versions.

Most of the Fold 3 cameras were borrowed from the Galaxy Z Fold 2

Samsung selected a 12-megapixel triple-camera system for the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s camera department. As the main shooter, a 12-megapixel sensor with an f / 1.8 aperture and OIS. These details correspond to the Fold 2’s main camera, although there is one key difference: the pixel size. For some reason, Samsung seems to have chosen a sensor that uses pixels smaller than 1.4 µm. For comparison, the main camera in last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 used 1.8 µm pixels, which allowed it to capture more light.

Sitting next to the main sensor is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide that appears to have been borrowed from last year’s device. It offers an f / 2.2 aperture and a 123º field of view, with a pixel size of 1.12 µm.

Last on the rear camera list is a 12-megapixel 2x telephoto camera. It includes OIS, f / 2.4 aperture and 1.0 µm pixels. Again, these details correspond to the telephoto camera used on the Fold 2.

As for the selfie department, above the cover screen sits a 10-megapixel f / 2.2 sensor. Before I ask, yes, it looks like this snapper was pulled from last year’s foldable smartphone as well.

However, some changes have been made to the internal selfie camera. With the adoption of the technology under the panel comes the introduction of an f / 1.8 sensor that offers a 4 megapixel, surprisingly low resolution. Judging by this leak, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is unlikely to make a difference on our best camera phones in the 2021 list.
