Hulu brings back the 4K streaming, but there are some major limitations

[ad_1]

Again, you can watch Hulu content in glorious 4K resolution – somehow. While 4K content is back on Disney's streaming service After disappearing last year, the current selection of Hulu 4K programs is extremely limited and can only be viewed on a few devices.

As The Streamable reports, 4K content has reappeared on Hulu this morning, but only seems to include the original Hulu series as The servant's tale, Catch-22, and stone castle. In addition, the only platforms that currently support 4K streaming on Hulu are the Apple TV 4K. and Chromecast Ultra. If you use another device to watch Hulu, you're out of luck.

Even if you have an Apple TV or Chromecast, you may notice that Hulu's 4K feeds are not as good as other services. It is not an error. At the moment, Hulu seems to support only SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) streams and not HDR (High-Dynamic Range) streams. streams. In other words, even if you have an HDR-compatible TV, the contrast will not be as dramatic and the colors will not be as rich and vibrant as you would like. This is a strange omission and we expect the owner of Hulu, Disney, to fix it as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, for Hulu subscribers, the reintroduction of 4K content could be a good sign of the future. Hulu is notoriously behind with respect to 4K content, lagging behind competitors such as Netflix and Amazon Prime in several ways.

When 4K first arrived at Hulu in 2016, the programs supported were notoriously small. At the time, the only programs you could watch in 4K were some of the James Bond movies. movies and a selection of selections from Hulu's original programming. The hardware options also left something to be desired, the 4K streams appearing only on the PlayStation 4 Pro. and Xbox One S. Then the 4K programming was ruthlessly snatched away.

As such, it's better than nothing for millions of Hulu subscribers. Fortunately, if you do not have Chromecast or Apple TV, or if Hulu's original shows do not interest you, you can still enjoy 4K feeds on many different streaming services.. Hopefully, Hulu will increase the number of devices supporting 4K streams and will soon add HDR features. We are in 2019. It's time.
