Hulu + Live TV picks up twice as many customers as YouTube TV

A new report claims that the use of Hulu's live TV service is double that of YouTube TV, far ahead of other competing services.

Hulu + Live TV, Hulu's streaming service name, will soon surpass the 2 million subscriber mark – about twice as much as YouTube TV, which has just over a million subscribers. This is apparent from a new Bloomberg report that quotes people with knowledge of the subject.

More worrisome perhaps, Hulu's and YouTube's live TV services are the only US-based and growing cable-cutting solutions. Competitive services such as DirecTV Now, Sling TV and Sony PlayStation Vue have apparently experienced a dramatic slowdown, with some experiencing a real drop in subscribers due to higher prices.

I'm not surprised that Hulu and YouTube are among the top performers, given the quality of both services. But I'm a little surprised that YouTube TV is not the first choice. Maybe Hulu's connected video streaming service plays a role, since YouTube TV is literally just a television.

Of course, pricing does not help one of these services: after entering the market at a lower price, each cable cut service increased prices last year. Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV cost around $ 45 a month. This does not encourage cable subscribers to switch providers, although online services such as Hulu and YouTube TV offer many other advantages over traditional cable TV offerings.
