Hulu’s Hellraiser reboot makes Jamie Clayton the iconic Pinhead when production ends

Almost 35 years after the first Hellraiser hit theaters, iconic villain Pinhead is in the process of changing genders, with actress Jamie Clayton playing the character.

Doug Bradley previously played Pinhead in the original 1987 adaptation of Hellraiser, based on Clive Barker’s book The Hellbound Heart.

Spyglass Media Group and Hulu announced in a press release Thursday that principal photography has been completed on the project.

The streaming service also announced the full cast and that the reboot will debut on Hulu, and which original Hellraiser creator Clive Barker has joined as a producer.

Clayton will star alongside Odessa A’zion, Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Faison, Aoife Hinds and Hiam Abbass in the new film.

David Bruckner (The Night House) is directing a screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (The Night House, Super Dark Times), based on a story by David S. Goyer (Blade, The Dark Knight).

Goyer will also be a producer with his Phantom Four partner Keith Levine, as well as Barker and Marc Toberoff.

“It was such an honor to have Clive on board to help us support and guide us through the incredible universe he created so long ago,” director Bruckner said in a statement.

“Combined with a fearless and committed cast, including the incredible Jamie Clayton, who fully embodies the role of Hell Priest, we aim to create a very special new chapter in the Hellraiser legacy,” added Bruckner.

Goyer added: “From the moment I first read The Hellbound Heart, Clive Barker became one of my literary heroes.”

“His work is transgressive and completely redefines the horror genre. Under the leadership of David Bruckner, we are going back to the source and taking inspiration from this original news, ”added Goyer.

“After seeing some of the designs from David Bruckner’s new Hellraiser movie, they pay homage to what the first movie created, but then take it to places they’ve never been before,” added Clive Barker.

“He’s a Hellraiser on a scale I just didn’t expect. David and his team are steeped in the mythology of the story, but what excites me is their desire to honor the original while revolutionizing it for a new generation, ”he added.

Clive Barker wrote and directed the original Hellraiser movie in 1987, based on his 1986 book The Hellbound Heart.

The film centers on a mysterious puzzle box that, when unlocked, unleashes extra-dimensional beings known as Cenobites, led by the terrifying Pinhead.

The original film was a cult classic that spawned several sequels, with Doug Bradley playing the iconic Pinhead.

Clayton took to Twitter to celebrate the announcement with a photo of her holding the mysterious puzzle box.

She is best known for playing Nomi Marks in Netflix’s Sense8 and Tess Van De Berg in The L Word: Generation Q.
