Delaware’s top federal prosecutor has decided to suspend a criminal investigation into Hunter Biden months before the 2020 election to prevent the public from seeing it, according to a report.

US attorney David Weiss, appointed by former President Donald Trump, has decided not to seek search warrants or issue grand jury summons so as not to “alert the public to the existence of the case in the midst of the presidential election, ”reports Politico.

The prosecutor’s office has reportedly been torn over whether to continue its investigation or cut it off due to the election, and Weiss, who remains at the helm of the case, sided with those who wanted to wait.

“To his credit, he listened,” an anonymous source told the publication.

The Justice Department’s role in the case has come under criticism from Trump allies, who note that a Delaware computer repairer handed over a laptop previously owned by Hunter Biden in December 2019 , according to files first reported by The Post.
