Hunter Dickinson receives props from Wisconsin coach Greg Gard

When Michigan destroyed Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon, Hunter Dickinson’s ability to bounce the basketball was one of the main reasons. Wisconsin Head Coach Greg Gard took note.

Gard mentioned the Wolverines’ ability on the glass as a big difference in the second half, leading to the victory for the nation’s No.3 team. Perhaps if Dickinson weren’t so dominant, Wisconsin could have snuck out of their home gym with a win.

After the match, Gard congratulated Dickinson in heaven.

“He’s one of the best post players in the country,” Gard said. “Even though he didn’t score a ton today, the 15 rebounds, especially the offensive ones, made the difference. He did that, he’s been a force all year. His development really exploded when Davis got injured and he was able to gain more minutes and more experience. Now they are both there and able to compliment each other well. It is a burden. He is clever. He has great footwork, great balance. He is tall and strong and has a nose for the ball. It plays the way you want your posted players to play. “

Dickinson finished the game with 11 points, 15 rebounds and an assist in Sunday’s 67-59 win. In 14 games, nine starts, Dickinson averages 15.1 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, 0.9 assists per game, shoots 68.8% from the ground and 1.4 blocks per game.

As a member of the 2020 Class, Dickinson was a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was the No. 2 general in the state of Maryland, the No. 10 center of the class, and the No. 43 general of the class.

It’s hard to come back from a really long hiatus, but the Wolverines rocked it and managed to secure a huge road victory after 23 days off due to COVID-19 protocols. Andy Katz of Big Ten Network thought Michigan was ‘won back’ their No.1 seed given in the Top 16 reveals it.

Katz also believed Wisconsin is in its prime and may not reach elite status this season.

“One of the interesting things this season in the midst of the COVID hiatus situation is how the teams are coming out of it,” Katz said at halftime of the Penn State-Nebraska game. “Michigan has only had one experience here and has been slow for a little while. What you saw in this highlight, Hunter Dickinson did a phenomenal job of getting a position and getting those rebounds. Livers delivered, Wagner delivered late. This Michigan team deserved and reclaimed that No.1 seed. As for the Badgers, they just can’t cross that threshold to become an elite Big Ten team this season. They have Iowa next door to the house. They’re just kind of stuck in this business.
