Hurricane Dorian "catastrophic" goes into category 5, according to the NHC

Hurricane Dorian was erected as a Category 5 storm, tweeted the National Hurricane Center Sunday morning.

"Dorian is now a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 100 km / h The wall of the eye of this catastrophic hurricane is about to hit the Abaco Islands with devastating winds," reads in the tweet.

Millions of residents along the southeastern coast of the United States are on the alert as the storm moves north-east after beating the Bahamas, threatening Florida and the Carolinas.
