Hyper Light Drifter Developers Announce Next Game, Solar Ash Kingdom

Three years have passed since the release of Indie Classic Hyper Light Drifter, and today, the developer Heart Machine has revealed its next title: a new game called Kingdom of solar ash, who got a first trailer to IGN.

The details are slim on the new title, but the trailer shows a new 3D artistic style that radically changes from pixel art sharpness to Hyper Light Drifter. Some things, however, never change, and Kingdom of solar ash seems to stick to the same cyan and pink color scheme that used in the team's first game. And of course, a mysterious character brandishes a blade of brilliant energy against a giant and monstrous enemy. What's more, what Heart Machine shows is really beautiful, almost like a 3D version of the pixel art of Hyper Light Drifter look like.

Kingdom of solar ash will be published by Annapurna Interactive, which has quickly made a name for itself on the indie game scene with titles such as What's left of Edith Finch, Gorogoa, Florence, Donut County, and more.

There is still no word on a publication window for Kingdom of solar ash, but the trailer confirms that it will arrive on Epic Games Store, indicating that a PC version is in the cards. Given that Hyper Light Drifter was released for Mac and PC in March 2016, followed by releases for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in July of the same year and the Switch port in 2018, Kingdom of solar ash could then end up on other platforms.
