A COVID-19 vaccine conspiracy theory involving Will Smith’s sci-fi film “I Am Legend” was firmly shut down by one of the 2007 film’s writers on Monday.
Akiva Goldsman responded to anti-vaccine misinformation that cites the fictional feature film starring Smith as evidence for not getting the shots. In the film, a genetically reprogrammed virus not a vaccine turns people into vampires.
“Oh. My.God. It’s a movie,” tweeted Goldsman, whose screenplay with Mark Protosevich was based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name.
“I made this up. His. Not. Real, ”he added.
