My mind was changing. And so my relationship to myself and to the world around me came to this onslaught of finitude. … It was also the end of the projection of my young self. I got to the place where I thought, “I don’t know where I am anymore. But where do I come from and what do I do? ”

Reeves’ philosophical response to this particular stage feels perfectly aligned with his measured response to everything else. He was even once asked how he copes with aging and reportedly explained that he sees with “wonder and dread”.
