Actress Kate Hudson is an Oscar nominated actress, businesswoman and mother of three who have different dads – which the star spoke about in a new interview on Sunday TODAY.
“I have several dads, I have children everywhere,” the Almost known star said Willie Geist in the interview.
Hudson’s children also span a wide range of ages. There’s Ryder, 17, whom she shares with her ex-husband Chris Robinson; 9-year-old Bingham, whose father is ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy; and Rani Rose, 2, whose father is Hudson’s boyfriend Danny Fujikawa.
“The only expectations that I really have and that are really high in my life are my children and my family matters,” she added.
As for his own “multiple dads,” Hudson and brother Oliver Hudson were estranged from their biological father, actor and musician Bill Hudson, for much of their lives and were raised by mother Goldie Hawn and partner Kurt. Russell.
“It’s a 41-year-old problem,” Hudson, 41, said of that dynamic. “I have a big family. I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge role in sharing what it’s like to have a reliable father figure in our lives. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that we didn’t know our father.
Hudson and his brother host a podcast, Fraternal revelry, which often reflects complex family issues. “I think alienation is unfortunately quite common and I think it’s important that people talk about it,” said the co-founder of Fabletics.
Recently, Hudson has received a lot of press for mentioning in the podcast that she and Oliver have other siblings they weren’t close to. “We sit here like we have the best family, like we are awesome. And yet we never recognize the fact that we have four other siblings, ”she says. “So I thought of the Hudsons. Thinking it’s important to contact all of our siblings and maybe communicate with them a bit.
Bill Hudson has three other children – Emily, Lalania and Zachary – from other relationships. Hudson’s other siblings are Russell’s son, Boston, from his first marriage, and actor Wyatt Russell, Hawn’s only biological child with Russell.
As for how Hudson and his three children behaved during the COVID-19 pandemic, the star of the upcoming film The music sharing: “I wanna be, like, ‘Yeah, that’s so awesome and … we’re finding out’, but the reality is that there are days that are great, and there are days that I have to remember to be grateful. ”
She adds, “I never thought in a million years that I would spend a year in one place. And when you have that many kids, sometimes you have those moments where you hide in your bathroom saying, “Please, please get me out of here!”
“I just remember there are a lot of people out there who have lost their loved ones, and we just need to stay a bit.
