On Sunday night, Ellen DeGeneres took home the 2020 Daytime Talk Show trophy at the E! People’s Choice Award. In accepting the award, the talk show host made sure to thank her “amazing” staff. This award comes after her show was wasted for a toxic work environment that made many people raise their eyebrows.

DeGeneres appeared on stage in person to accept her award at the hybrid ceremony. “Thank you. From the bottom of my heart thank you,” she said. “I am not only accepting this award for myself, but on behalf of my amazing team and staff who make the show possible, they stand by. present every day, give 100% of themselves, 100% of the time. That’s 250 people, 170 times a year, 18, if you wear 2 and divide it by 11 – my point is that I love them all and I thank them all.

“I know [where] this award comes from – thank you people, ”she continued. “Thank you to all my fans for supporting me, for staying by my side. I can’t tell you how grateful I am. It means more than I can say.

She then joked about the trophy, “I’m going to wipe it off with Lysol and put it on my shelf.”

DeGeneres returned to the studio in September and addressed the allegations of a toxic work environment which were detailed in a Buzzfeed article. “I have learned that things have happened here that should never have happened,” she said. “I take this very seriously and want to say that I am very sorry for those affected.”

The article included former staff of the daytime talk show and their allegations of racist comments and other abusive behavior by current and high-level staff. Following the allegations, WarnerMedia launched an investigation into the workspace and former executive producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman left the program.
