Jimmy Hayes’ widow wrote another heartbreaking tribute to the former NHL player after his funeral.
Days after the 31-year-old athlete was buried, Kristen Hayes continued to honor the memory of her late husband on Wednesday by posting two romantic photos of the couple sharing an embrace.
“I miss your arms even more today,” she wrote. “Always keep thinking about your [sic] go home. Beau runs to the door every time he beeps, hoping it’s you. My God, this is hard. I miss you so much.”
Jimmy was pronounced dead by first responders at his home in Milton on August 23 – a day after celebrating their son Beau’s second birthday. The couple also have a 3 month old son named Mac.

Hundreds of people gathered at St. Ann’s Church in Dorchester, Massachusetts on Monday morning to pay their respects and say their final farewells to Jimmy.
During the memorial service, Kristen was seen gently placing her hand on her late husband’s coffin before stepping onto the podium. In his speech, she remembered him as a devoted husband and father with a “heart of gold” and a “contagious” smile.
“My dearest Jimmy, I can’t believe I’m standing here a month after our three years of marriage,” she said. “You were just the best. There’s no other way to put it.”

“Beau look at the bottom of my phone [with a picture of Jimmy] before going to bed and say, ‘Good night daddy. I love you, ”she continued. “You were my soul mate and the best dad for Beau and Mac. I’ll make sure they know about our love story. “
She added, “Heaven has won an angel.”

Jimmy’s younger brother Kevin Hayes, who plays for the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers, also spoke some touching words during the service.
“He made me the best version of myself,” Kevin said, holding back tears.
Describing Jimmy as a “caring, loving, generous, loyal and determined” loved one, he added, “As a brother he has built us in every way he can. He brought joy and laughter in every interaction.
A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE that the autopsy was performed on August 25. “The cause and mode of death remain unresolved and an update is not expected for several weeks when toxicology testing returns,” the office said. in a report.
