i_o, producer born Garrett Falls Lockhart, passed away on Monday, November 23. The news was confirmed in a statement on Lockhart’s verified Twitter account. “This extremely talented mind has taught us that even if nothing matters, you can still lead with love,” the note read. “Garrett’s truth and soul lives on through the music he shared.” Pitchfork has contacted their representatives for more information.
Lockart lived in Washington, DC and moved to Los Angeles, where he became a fixture of the local electronic music scene. In the past two years he has released three EPs including an album titled 444. In 2019, Lockhart appeared on Grimes’ new song “Violence” by Miss Anthropocene. His first release came in 2017. He released music on Deadmau5’s Mau5trap label
