Spy guy
IBM has just patented an extremely attractive smartwatch: its touch screen unfolds to form a full-size tablet when you are attached to your wrist.
The device, described as "an electronic display device configured for a variable display size", according to the patent filed last month, propels the foldable devices to a whole new level with its size multiplied by 8 from the watch mode to the tablet mode. However, Tom's Guide, there is no mention of how the touch screen folded repeatedly is supposed to work without cracking or peeling off, like all smartphones.
Think about the future
IBM may never build its bizarre "Spy Kids" watch folded – Tom's Guide predicts that the company will continue to focus on other areas such as artificial intelligence or quantum technology. It is also possible that the company decided that maintaining the legal rights of a folding display stand repeatedly could be valuable later.
It is also unclear who exactly needs a wrist spring tablet at all times. We also do not know how such a device would be more useful than existing solutions – unless you're a restaurant server needing access to a set.
