Appalachian Road Show, Dale Ann Bradley and Sierra Hull were also two-time winners. Appalachian Road Show was named Instrumental Group of the Year and New Artist of the Year. Bradley was named Vocalist of the Year for the sixth time and tied for Gospel Recording of the Year. Sierra Hull won the Mandolin Player of the Year award and was among the featured artists for Collaborative Recording of the Year winner: “White Line Fever” by Bobby Osborne.
Other repeat winners in the marquee categories included Sister Sadie, who won the Vocal Group of the Year award for the third year in a row; and Danny Paisley and Del McCoury, tied for Male Vocalist of the Year. It was Paisley’s second consecutive win in this category (and his third overall). It was McCoury’s fifth win in the category, but his first since 1996.
During the ceremony, singer / songwriter Alison Krauss, conductor / banjoist Lynn Morris and genre pioneers The Stoneman Family were recognized for their contributions. They have already been announced as inductees to the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
Last year, Sister Sadie won awards for both Artist of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year.
