ICE's acting director appeared on Wednesday in "The Ingraham Angle", where he criticized Congress for being inactive in the US-Mexico border crisis, saying lawmakers "refuse" to do what is needed.
Mark Morgan, who took office in early May after leading the US Border Patrol, also defended ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) against those who would like to see him abolished, especially Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
"If you're talking about abolishing ICE, it's absolutely irresponsible," Morgan told Ingraham. "Last year alone, 34,000 criminal arrests and 5,000 gang members were arrested. Thousands of cases of exploitation of child trafficking and human trafficking. "

Morgan added, "I would like to talk to this young congresswoman and ask her to tell me what will happen if ICE is abolished."
He also told facilitator Laura Ingraham that the Congress was a major obstacle to achieving the goals of the ICE at the US-Mexico border.
"It has been a long time since we sound the alarm that it is a humanitarian and national security crisis," Morgan said. Congress has failed to do its job.

"It's amazing to me that we always ask, overall, what Congress can do," Morgan added, "when we say it to Congress – to the experts who live this every day, from ICE to border patrol, the CBP [Customs and Border Protection] – They must adopt significant laws, comply with the Flores agreement and do so, fund beds and the crisis ends tomorrow. "
The Flores agreement refers to Reno v. Flores, a US Supreme Court case from the 1990s that set standards for the treatment of minors detained by US immigration authorities.
