Iced Earth frontman Stu Block and bassist Luke Appleton have officially announced that they have both left the band. The move comes more than a month after founding member of the metal band, guitarist Jon Schaffer, participated in the U.S. Capitol uprising on Jan.6 and just under four weeks after the FBI confirmed that he had been arrested on six federal charges.
Block, who was criticized earlier for a since-deleted social media post in which he allegedly confused the meanings of the words “condemn” and “tolerate” in relation to his post which appeared to support the attack as it happened, said his last decision was made after careful consideration.
The singer said he informed Schaffer and his current management of his immediate resignation, after reassessing the situation while considering his trajectory as an artist, as well as out of respect for others in the group’s camp who were still dealing with the reality of events. it had happened.
“It’s time to embark on a new chapter,” he wrote, closing the book on his ten-year role as the singer of Iced Earth. Dystopia, Plagues of Babylon and Incorruptible albums.

Hi all,
Well, there are times and events when you need to take stock and reassess your life, your work, and your trajectory for the future. With that being said, I informed Jon and his current management that I was to announce my resignation from Iced Earth with immediate effect.
Before making a personal decision, I needed the last few weeks to deal with the situation and respect others in our camp who were dealing with the situation. Thank you all very much for respecting this. It is the best decision in many ways for my personal / professional growth in the future. It’s time to move on, to heal, and to prosper.

Appleton, who joined the group in 2012 and performed on Plagues of Babylon and Incorruptible, also released a statement announcing that he had resigned as bassist of Iced Earth.
The statement reads,
In response to recent events and circumstances, I have informed the management of Iced Earth and Jon that I will be stepping down as bassist of Iced Earth with immediate effect.
I want to thank everyone who sent me their support and love during this difficult time. Thank you!!!

In response to Schaffer’s involvement in the Capitol Riot, where he was photographed inside the government building as he wielded a bear bomb, his groups Iced Earth and Demons & Wizards were both removed from Century Media’s active page. Blind Guardian frontman Hansi Kursch, who also directed Demons & Wizards, announced his resignation from the Schaffer collaboration project on February 1.
Schaffer turned into authorities on Jan. 17 after being on the FBI’s “most wanted” list a week earlier. He should be extradited to Washington DC to fulfill other legal obligations related to his criminal charges.
