I play video games and write on them for a living. That means about 14 hours a day. On my computer or my phone, I'm looking for stories. That's why I find it really surprising that until yesterday I did not know that the Rage 2 comes in four days from now.
Rage 2 is a sequel to a game I have never played, and yet, when he started his sequences almost a year ago and he continued to show more at E3, it was really one of the games I was hoping for the most this year. That's why I'm so surprised that I did not know it was on us.
I have seen relatively few promotions for the game, although I do not really watch much commercial TV, but I have heard so little about it. I know that the proofreaders received copies a few days ago (I do not have any yet, but maybe soon), so it's not the "No exams" case of Bethesda from a few years ago. But the cone of silence around the exit of this game has been extremely strange. The only news on Rage 2 I can even remember the past year have been a bit of dust with Far Cry: New Dawn who shared a decidedly similar aesthetic. Then yesterday, there was a beautiful, funny launch trailer for Rage 2:

It's a strange time for Bethesda, a studio that needs good news. Fallout 76 was the worst seen major title for several years when it was released in 2018, making its debut in a broken state with a fundamental concept that many Fall The fans just did not want to have anything to do, they just wanted another suite or spin-off. Since then, the next major release of Bethesda was Elder Scrolls Blades, a decent mid-way mobile game but a fully defined through its central mechanism of trying to charge players to avoid waiting timekeepers to open rewards for the chest at the end of the dungeons, which seems to be equally anti-competitive.Old scrolls as you get. It's in a better state than now, Anthem, at least. But Rage 2 like a fun, action shooter in the vein of Borderlands (without looting) could be exactly what they need now.
The silence is strange, however. Bethesda has done this before, no one has heard so much CONDEMN had a disappointing multiplayer beta before the release of his single-player campaign that every player loved God. And yet, Bethesda is currently in a deadlock that must be broken by a real success, which is not controversial.
