If your Pixel 5’s system sounds are extremely loud, a new update may fix this issue.

As part of its January Pixel Updates, Google may have fixed an issue where the Pixel 5 system sounds could be much louder than you would like.

Since the Pixel 5 launched in October, many users on Reddit and Google’s own support forums have reported that Pixel 5 system sounds (like the camera shutter or the sound you hear when you take a screenshot) might be loud enough, even when the phone’s volume was set to a lower level.

However, in the January Pixel Updates release notes, Google says the Pixel 5-specific update includes “further tweaks and improvements to the volume level of system sounds.” A few Reddit users have reported that the system sounds are much quieter after installing the update, although some say the sounds are too calm now.

The release notes also list other changes, including auto-brightness improvements on the Pixel 4A, 4A 5G, and 5. Here is the full list of Google’s “notable fixes” in January updates:
