The Memphis Grizzlies and Andre Iguodala agreed to let him stay away from the team, sources confirmed to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Memphis does not intend to negotiate a contract buyback and continues to expect to find an exchange for Iguodala before the Feb. 6 deadline, sources said.
The Daily Memphian was the first to announce that Iguodala would be absent from the team.
"… we try to understand things from both sides," Iguodala told NBC Sports Bay Area in an interview published Monday. "They are trying to understand some things, and I'm trying to understand some things, so far we're on the same page, the camp is opening next week, we'll see, we're on the same page. , however. "
The Golden State Warriors have sent Iguodala, who owes $ 17.2 million next season in the final year of his contract, with a slightly protected first-choice pick in 2024 for the rebuilding Grizzlies, as they needed to lose his salary to run a team of three, signing agreement for All-Star guardian Angelo Russell.
Iguodala, 35, is an essential part of the three Warriors championships and his five consecutive finals. He is considered one of the defenders of the elite wing of the league. This is an excellent smuggler and a threat off the dribble. He averaged 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game as the sixth Golden State man last season. These averages rose to 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the playoffs, in which Iguodala started the majority of games.
Tim MacMahon of ESPN contributed to this report.
