The controversial representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota made her first appearance on a Sunday news show on CBS. "September 11 was therefore an attack on all Americans. It was an attack on us all. And I certainly could not understand the weight of the pain that must be felt by the victims of 9/11 families. But I think it's really important for us not to forget the after-effects of what happened after 9/11, "Omar said.
"Many Americans have found themselves stripped of their civil rights," said Omar. "So what I was talking about was, as a Muslim, I was suffering not only as an American who had been attacked that day, but the next day, I woke up while my fellow Americans were treating me now suspect. "
As for his congressional performance so far and the various fire storms created by his outspokenness, Omar said it was a new day in Washington.
