Illegal party of around 400 people broke out in New York, officials say

About 400 people have been arrested for gathering at an illegal party at a club early Saturday morning in New York’s Midtown, according to NBC New York.

The party, organized as cases of Covid-19 surge across the country, violated city and state orders against holding mass rallies. Additionally, the party was operating without a liquor license, according to a tweet from the New York Sheriff’s Department.

The New York sheriff also tweeted an image of what appear to be dozens of bottles confiscated at the party.

Four of the organizers, who have not yet been identified, have been charged with staging a mass rally against city and state orders and operating without a liquor license, according to NBC New York .

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted that there were 1,589 new cases of Covid-19 in the city on Saturday and 136 patients admitted to hospital.

The Bottle Party bust comes just days after the New York Sheriff destroys another illegal ‘bottle club’, this time in Queens. About 80 people were in attendance, according to a Tweeter of the sheriff.

Five organizers have been indicted for the rally, according to the sheriff’s tweet.
