Angelina Jolie had a different idea of what motherhood would be like.
The 45-year-old actress – who shares six children aged 12 to 19 with her ex-husband Brad Pitt – opened up about parenting during the pandemic in a recent interview on British Vogue’s issue of global creativity.
“Well, I’ve never been very good at sitting down. Even though I wanted to have lots of kids and be a mom, I always imagined it was a bit like Jane Goodall, traveling somewhere in the middle of the jungle, ”she said in the March issue, which hits newsstands on February 5, adding “I didn’t imagine it in this true and traditional sense.”
She continued, “I feel like I don’t have all the skills to be a traditional stay-at-home mom.”
But she believes that she is able to take care of her children because they know how to take good care of themselves.
“I manage because the kids are pretty resilient, and they help me, but I’m not good at it at all,” she said.
And the humanitarian likes that she can count on them.
“Well, I love them. I feel like we are such a team, ”she said. “It might sound cliché, but you like it and you try, and even if you burn the eggs, it doesn’t matter in the end. But also, you have met our children. They are quite capable.
Jolie and Pitt, who separated in September 2016, share Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14 and 12, twins Vivienne and Knox.
The “Maleficent” star, who lives on Cecil B. DeMille’s former estate, explained why she chose this house.
“I wanted it to be close to their father, who is only five minutes away,” she says.
Additionally, Jolie found solace in the history and layout of the property.
“I felt a little pressure building. As if I had slipped where DeMille and [Charlie] Chaplin was hanging out, ”she says. “I like the most that there isn’t an entertainment room, but lots of trails and places to walk and think. I feel very lucky that we have this right now.
